Report Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

At TempWorks, the Report Technician is responsible for analyzing data, generating reports, testing applications, and managing integrations. This role requires significant knowledge of TempWorks’ proprietary software, including both the user interface (UI) and back-end systems, such as API capabilities and the SQL database schema. The technician will work with databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools, collaborating across departments to troubleshoot and enhance reporting solutions. Additionally, this role supports governmental compliance reporting, maintains version control for report-related materials, and ensures seamless integrations with third-party systems.


General Responsibilities:

•    Lead formal meetings to define the scope of reporting projects.

•    Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to research and develop governmental compliance reports.

•    Analyze data, test applications, and develop complex stored procedures to import or export data out of the system/database.

•    Modify and maintain reports, including SSRS reports, and use SSIS for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows.

•    Troubleshoot and resolve data issues, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

•    Ensure version control of report-related materials, including scope documents, addendums, and client-provided examples.

•    Collaborate with clients and vendors to set up and support integrations.

•    Coordinate with other departments, acting as a liaison between clients, vendors, and Information Technology teams.

•    Participate in stakeholder meetings for new and prospective integration vendors.

•    Develop and maintain integration setup procedures and technical support documentation.

•    Manage and maintains Azure Dev Ops Pipelines, Repositories and Conducts Code Releases on a regular basis.

•    Assist other departments or teams as assigned, based on organizational capacity and business needs.

•    Travel onsite to visit clients.

•    Perform other related tasks as assigned to support business operations and technical goals.


Required Skills and Abilities:

•    Strong proficiency in SQL programming, including designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting advanced stored procedures and queries.

•    Experience in ADO Pipelines, Repositories and Release Processes.

•    Advanced knowledge of SSRS report design and maintenance.

•    Familiarity with SSIS workflows for ETL processes.

•    Strong knowledge of API functionality and troubleshooting, including creating and testing API calls using tools like Postman.

•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex data issues.

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

•    Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

•    Proven ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation and integration setup guides.

•    Ability to learn new software, interfaces, and systems independently with minimal supervision.

•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

•    Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and JQuery forms.


Education and Experience:

•    Experience in a TempWorks technical role with proven ability to support, setup and troubleshoot TempWorks system functionality. 

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may substitute.

•    Demonstrated expertise in report writing or a similar role, showcasing strong skills in analyzing, developing, and troubleshooting complex reports.

•    Proven proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including the ability to create, maintain, and optimize advanced reports and queries.

•    Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, and JQuery forms.

•    Knowledge of payroll processing and tax concepts.

•    Demonstrated expertise in using TempWorks UI for operational functions and a thorough understanding of its back-end SQL database schema preferred. 

•    Experience with integrating third-party systems into TempWorks and supporting their ongoing functionality preferred. 


Physical Requirements:

•    Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.

•    Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.

•    Ability and desire to travel up to 30% of the time.


The pay range for this role is: $68,000 - $97,000
